Edvard Grieg – Symphony in C minor

Composed in 1864, Grieg himself put a fatwa on it: ‘Must never be performed’. Although this Symphony reveals numerous influences, some more obvious than others, it's a crafty-built piece, full of youthful vigor and inventive melodies.

Here's a performance by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra led by Bjarte Engeset.
